MumbaiWood now a recognised destination

MumbaiWood 2024 shattered previous records, highlighting the strong growth of the furniture manufacturing and woodworking industry in India. The event witnessed 9,600 attendees from 20 states, and from 17 countries.

The increase in footfall from Western India indicated a notable presence from Tier-2 and Tier-3 towns, as well as industry professionals from neighbouring countries eager to explore the latest developments.

In addition to the exhibition, the seminar sessions organised by the Indian Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers’ and Traders’ Association and supported by the Association for Furniture Manufacturers & Traders brought together industry veterans who shared their expertise on the future of the industry.

Attendees gained valuable insights into key topics such as sustainability, technological advancements and market trends, sparking dynamic discussions that empowered participants to navigate the evolving landscape of woodworking.

Market insights

The Indian furniture industry is poised for significant growth, with forecasts estimating a market size expected to reach US$ 29.86 billion by 2029, reflecting a CAGR of 11.20%.

Urbanisation will drive demand for modern, space-efficient furniture solutions, with about 900 million people projected to live in urban areas by 2050. Additionally, India’s online furniture market is set to reach US$ 40 billion by 2026, fuelled by customisable options.

With 175 brands presenting their state-of- the-art technologies and products, MumbaiWood 2024 epitomised the forefront of the woodworking and furniture manufacturing sector. The event provided a unique opportunity for industry stakeholders to engage in fruitful conversations and forge lasting connections.
