Herman Miller has unveiled a new bamboo-based upholstery option for its iconic Eames lounge chair and Ottoman, marking a significant step in sustainable design. The new upholstery is soft, durable, and offers enhanced scratch resistance, helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the chair by up to 35%.
This addition aligns with Herman Miller’s long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship. The company has previously innovated with materials such as 100% recycled plastics in its chairs.
The Eames lounge chair, a design classic since its introduction in 1956, now offers a sustainable choice in colours including ivory, russet and black, catering to environmentally conscious consumers.
