EUDR implementation dates may be deferred

The European Commission has proposed a 12-month extension for the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), shifting the effective dates to December 30, 2025, for large companies, and June 30, 2026, for micro and small enterprises.

This decision comes in response to feedback from global partners expressing concerns about readiness for the regulation. In addition to the delay, the Commission has announced a new guidance document that clarifies key aspects of the regulation, including legality requirements and the role of certification.

A dedicated web page has also been launched to assist small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in understanding their obligations under the EUDR. An international cooperation framework has been introduced to support third countries in compliance, particularly focusing on small holders.
