When Lamello’s Cabineo became a game changer

Raugel Agencement, based in Molsheim, Alsace, is a renowned French carpentry company that masterfully combines tradition with innovation. Founded in 1932 by Joseph Raugel and handed down through generations, this family business has built a sterling reputation for its exceptional woodwork quality.

A pivotal factor in its sustained success is the integration of innovative Lamello joining solutions, particularly the Cabineo connector.

Since 2005, Raugel Agencement has been moving towards modern advancements in production processes. One significant investment is the Holz-Her BAZ7535 5-axes machining centre, which leverages nesting technology for optimal panel machining.

Coupled with the Cabineo joining element, this technology streamlines production by requiring only surface treatment, thus saving time and simplifying the assembly and transportation of furniture components.

Appreciated for its robustness and ease of use, the Cabineo has become an indispensable tool in the workshop, with Raugel Agencement utilising approximately 1,00,000 Cabineos annually.

Lionel Heller, the workshop manager since 2018, provides insight into the daily operations and the critical role of Lamello. In the workshop, where a dozen employees bring projects to life, Heller emphasizes that Lamello is considered the industry standard.

The Cabineo, used in 95% of joints, offers numerous advantages, including significant time savings in production, rapid assembly, and easy transport of flat-packed furniture.

Unlike traditional methods that rely on wooden dowels, the Cabineo provides high clamping force and eliminates the need for additional guiding elements, thereby optimising both manufacturing and assembly processes while ensuring high product quality.

Specialised applications

Raugel Agencement predominantly employs the Cabineo-12, characterised by three 15-mm holes. This method is ideal for furniture that needs to be transported flat or carried across multiple floors within a house.

The components are initially assembled in the workshop, then disassembled for transport, and finally re-assembled at the customer’s location, guaranteeing a perfect fit and smooth assembly.

A recent project that highlights the technological synergy between Raugel Agencement and Lamello is the complete re-design of the Klugesherz bakery/confectionery for the Christmas season.

Using approximately 1,500 Cabineo-12 connectors, Raugel Agencement crafted a warm and bright interior, completing the project in just three weeks.

This swift turnaround allowed the bakery to reopen just in time for the holidays, demonstrating the efficiency and speed of Raugel Agencement’s techniques. Laurent Raugel proudly states, “At Raugel, we not only create tailored interiors, we also create stories.”

Raugel Agencement is preparing to integrate the latest addition to the Cabineo family, the Cabineo-X, which offers exceptional flexibility thanks to its open housing.

In combination with shelf supports, it is an optimal solution for adjustable shelves, preventing the positioned shelves from falling out uncontrollably and exemplifies how innovation can transform traditional manufacturing and assembly methods.

With the recent introduction of the ClamX joining element in their workshop, the future promises even greater innovations for Raugel Agencement.
