Huter & Söhne, a family business in Innsbruck, Austria, is one of the oldest companies in the building industry in Tyrol and is currently led by the sixth generation. On a production area of 27,000 square metres, some 300 employees provide metal construction, building contractor, joinery and carpentry services.

The Huter company’s carpentry activities include making doors for any project: single-family houses, residential complexes, hospitals, schools or hotels.

Huter & Söhne combines the skills and experience of a company rich in tradition with the flexibility of a modern craft trade enterprise, thus offering the highest quality standards. It is therefore even more important that its suppliers embrace the same values.

Best package

The first Weber universal sanding machine was introduced in Innsbruck 10 years ago and it is still contributing its share to the door manufacturer’s painting line. When the company felt the need to invest in another sanding machine, an extensive comparison of manufacturers showed that a machine from the Kronach-based company was again the preferred option.

“We like working with Weber,” said Klaus Klinar, head of Huter’s door manufacturing division. “We’ve always felt we were in good hands with them, from the development meetings with the designers to the support from the field service. The service is simply good throughout. They leave nothing to be desired.”

The new Weber KSF series automatic sanding machine was bought purely for sanding wooden doors and has been fitted with the special segmented platen system.

This means that the sanding pressure is always applied evenly to the edges and surfaces. Where relevant, different pressures can be applied to specific areas, for example to produce wooden doors with recess patterns.

The automatic, integrated material thickness measurement saves precious time for the further processing: without this function every door would have to be measured by hand.

The KSF operation entails every door being placed on an infeed conveyor by an automatic portal. If the material thickness is not as specified, the machine automatically adjusts to the correct thickness by raising and lowering its top frame. “This enables us to always achieve the best sanding results with consistently good quality,” says Klinar.

Higher efficiency

Another reason why the new grinding machine was chosen was the option to quickly replace brush heads and the quick-fastening planetary head. This enables brushes and sanding belts to be replaced without any major effort and completely without any tools being required. This saves both time and money.

As standard, the Weber KSF features the high-quality and intuitive operating terminal with the exclusive Weber i-Touch.

Weber combines expert knowledge with innovative technologies – and has been doing so for 100 years. The company, with its more than 500 employees not only provides excellent, patented wood sanding and metal grinding machine process technologies it has also built up an excellent reputation for engineering plastics extrusion and granulation, additive manufacturing, and robotics and automation.
