Exterior wood: Rejuvenating with Protego’s solutions

Wood of various species are used extensively outdoors for decking, cladding, fences and even roof shingles. And even though outdoor wood might have been pressure treated from sawmills, it still needs some kind of coating for protection against decay, rot, mould and fungus.

Resin-based oils, especially formulated for outdoors use, have ensured that far more wood can be used for exterior purposes as it offers possibilities of maintaining and re-coating. Oil treatment of wood is an environmentally friendly way of coating wood offering long lasting durable solutions.

Irrespective of initial oil coating applied previously, maintenance procedure is by and large always the same. Before deciding on the actual maintenance itself, it is important to evaluate the deterioration of the surface.

The advantages of oiled surfaces are that they can always be maintained and repaired.

Denmark-based Protego International supplies pre-treating mould and tanning blockers and fungus primers, including various outdoor oils in many colours for basic treatment. The same goes for repair and maintenance.

All Protego products for exterior use are tested in an accelerator weathering machine which ensures that the latest technology can be incorporated to ensure their durability properties.

All development work is made in Protego’s own laboratory in cooperation with its European suppliers of raw materials. This warrants premium quality of Protego’s products to the benefit of its customers.
