Interzum 2025: rethinking resources

Exhibitors participating in Interzum 2025 can enter their new technical developments, advanced materials, exciting product innovations, concepts and processes for the Interzum Award 2025.

Suppliers from across the world that serve the furniture and interior design industry have until 21 February 2025 to make their submissions and see how they measure up to the global competition.

The competition is being organised by Interzum for the 13th time. An expert jury will select the industry’s most outstanding innovative solutions in the Function and Components, Materials and Nature, Textile and Machinery, and Rethinking Resources categories.

The forthcoming edition of the sector’s leading international trade fair is devoted to the central theme of circular and bio-based solutions. This topic will also play an important role in the Interzum award and has been designated a special category in the competition.

The category will honour products and concepts that demonstrate a carefully considered approach to their use of resources. Either they fulfil the principles of the circular economy by being designed to keep materials and products in the economic cycle for as long as possible – for example through reuse, repair, refurbishment and recycling – or they present impressive bio-based solutions that use materials produced from regrowing sources, making them environmentally friendly alternatives to petroleum-based products.

Entries can be put forward for the following categories:

•        Function and components: Lamps and (digital) lighting systems, semi-finished products for cabinet, kitchen, office and frame furniture, fittings, (digital) locks, built-in furniture components, hinges, connectors, etc.

•        Materials and nature: Wood, veneers, parquet flooring, interior construction, decorative surface design, decor papers, laminates, wood-based materials, solid-surface materials, edging products, surface treatments and finishes, embossing cylinders, sheet metals, natural materials, etc.

•        Textile and machinery: Machinery for upholstery and mattress manufacture, upholstery materials, upholstery accessories, cover fabrics, leathers, adhesives, temperature and moisture sensors for mattresses, smart textiles, etc.

•        Rethinking resources: Products and concepts that demonstrate a carefully considered approach to their use of resources, fulfil the principles of the circular economy or present impressive bio-based solutions.

The jury deliberations will take place on 3 April and the verdict communicated to contestants in April itself. Online exhibition of all the award-winning products will start from 20 May, 2025. All the information on the contest and the online entry form can be found at www.interzum.de/award.
