The 3rd edition of Hymmen’s ‘Tech-Together’ and in-house exhibition, held in early October, was a resounding success, drawing strong interest despite the current challenging market conditions.
Visitors from across Europe attended the event at Hymmen’s Technical Center in Rödinghausen to explore a range of innovative production technologies. The exhibition, which saw attendance comparable to the previous edition 2 years ago, showcased Hymmen’s latest solutions, from digital printing technologies to press and coating systems, along with their industry intelligence solution, smart2i.
Over the 2-day event, Hymmen hosted live demonstrations of its advanced production technologies, offering attendees hands-on opportunities. Key highlights included the production of the ‘Hymmen Collection 2024’ using the digital lacquer embossing (DLE-Plus) line, which demonstrated flooring samples produced with this highly successful technology.
Live demos
Other live demonstrations included digital decor printing, with UV-drying and water-based printing on panels and rolls, as well as lacquer finishing technology calendar coating inert, featuring mirror high-gloss and super-matte surfaces.
A major attraction for engineered wood customers was the in-house built laboratory press for extra-high-pressure formats, where pressing processes for engineered wood panels, such as SWP and plywood, were showcased. The system also included a specially designed glue application for SWP products.
Hymmen’s smart2i industry intelligence solution also took centre stage, with live demonstrations showing how production parameters are captured, analysed, and displayed in real time. The cloud-based software allows users to monitor and optimize production efficiency remotely, with easy-to-use dashboards that display relevant data.
Expert insights
The exhibition featured an engaging keynote presentation on production controlling by Ingo Laqua from CIM Aachen. This was complemented by a case study from Dirk Conrad of Hesse Lignal, who demonstrated the practical benefits of using the smart2i application in real-world settings.
What started as a collaborative initiative by machine manufacturers in the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region in 2021 has now become a fixture in the woodworking industry.
The companies participating in this year’s ‘Tech-Together’ event included some leading names from the industry. The exhibition continues to strengthen its role as an essential event for innovation and collaboration in the woodworking and manufacturing sectors.
