Ligna, the world’s leading trade fair for the woodworking and wood processing industry, is set to make a significant impact in 2025. Despite the current economic uncertainty, the event, scheduled for May 2025, has already secured 1,100 exhibitors across more than 1,05,000 square metres of exhibition space.
This early commitment signals strong confidence in the trade fair’s value, even amid challenges that affected the broader industry in recent years.
Stephanie Wagner, Head of Ligna at Deutsche Messe, reflects on the significance of these early registrations: “The exceptional registration numbers are an important sign of confidence for the entire woodworking industry. Given the current economic climate, it is by no means certain that companies would commit to a major trade fair.”
New formats
Ligna 2025 will introduce two innovative formats designed to meet the evolving needs of the industry: Ligna.TruckStop, a dedicated hub for skilled trades, featuring show trucks, vans, and transporters for hands-on product demonstrations; and Ligna.Circular, a new space dedicated to showcasing sustainable, circular production practices.
These additions will help address the industry’s growing emphasis on sustainability and flexibility in production.
These focus areas align with the industry’s major transformation challenges, such as digital networking, environmentally responsible production methods, and the creation of high-performance engineered wood products.
With two-thirds of exhibitors coming from outside Germany, the event will serve as a global platform for international innovation, collaboration, and technological advancements.
