Exhibitors participating in Interzum 2025 are now invited to submit their entries for the Interzum Award 2025, a competition that recognises the most innovative and sustainable solutions in the furniture and interior design industry.
Suppliers worldwide can enter new technical developments, advanced materials, product innovations, concepts, and processes, with the deadline for submissions set for February 21, 2025. This competition offers an opportunity for companies to showcase their most groundbreaking products and ideas, as well as to compete on the global stage.
The Interzum Award has been organized by the team behind the leading international trade fair for furniture production and interior design for thirteen years. Entries will be evaluated in four main categories: function and components, materials and nature, textile and machinery, and the newly introduced category rethinking resources.
New category
The 2025 edition will place particular emphasis on sustainability, with the central theme of the fair focusing on ‘Rethinking Resources: Circular and Bio-based Solutions’. Reflecting this theme, the newly introduced Rethinking Resources category within the award will honour products and concepts that showcase a thoughtful and responsible use of resources.
This includes innovations that adhere to the principles of the circular economy, such as designs that can be reused, repaired, refurbished, or recycled.
Additionally, the category will highlight biobased solutions, which utilize renewable materials from regrowing sources as alternatives to traditional petroleum-based products.
The awards will recognise excellence across four core categories:
• Function & Components: This category includes innovations in lamps, lighting systems, semi-finished products for furniture (e.g., kitchen, office, and frame furniture), fittings, locks, hinges, and built-in components.
• Materials & Nature: Submissions in this category can include materials such as wood, veneers, parquet flooring, laminates, solid-surface materials, and other natural materials for interior construction, surface design, and finishes.
• Textile & Machinery: This category focuses on innovations in machinery for upholstery and mattress production, as well as new materials like fabrics, leathers, adhesives, smart textiles, and temperature or moisture sensors.
• Rethinking Resources: Dedicated to products and concepts that incorporate circular economy principles or biobased solutions, this category aligns with the sustainability focus of the 2025 fair.
The competition is exclusively open to companies exhibiting at the event and contestants can submit multiple entries across different categories.
The jury, consisting of seven international experts, will evaluate all entries based on design quality, innovation potential, and sustainability. They will award the title of ‘High Product Quality’ for exceptional submissions, and outstanding achievements will be honoured with the ‘Best of the Best’ award.
The Interzum Award-winning products will be showcased in a special exhibition during Interzum (May 20–23, 2025). An online exhibition will also feature descriptions and images of the winning projects, offering a valuable resource for designers, architects and manufacturers looking for inspiration and sustainable solutions for their own projects.
