Udaipur, traditionally known for its art and culture, is now making a significant mark in the field of skill development for the furniture industry. The Furniture and Fittings Skill Council (FFSC) recently organised a five-day ‘Training of Trainers’ programme at the Iraj Evolution Design Company (IEvo) campus in Udaipur.

This initiative was aimed at enhancing the capabilities of trainers who will, in turn, pass on their skills to the youth, opening up employment opportunities locally and across the country.

Over 20 trainers from different parts of India participated in the programme, which was organised in collaboration with leading furniture brands, the Udaipur Regional Skill Chapter, and industry experts.

The goal of the initiative is to bridge the gap between the growing demand for skilled workers in the furniture sector and the availability of trained professionals. With the growing demand in the furniture and interior design sectors, the need for skilled workers has become more urgent.

Rahul Mehta, CEO of FFSC, emphasised the importance of providing youth with the right skills to meet industry needs. By offering specialised training, FFSC aims to empower young individuals, prepare them for employment, and contribute to the growth of Udaipur’s industries.

The ‘Training of Trainers’ programme began with an introductory session for the trainers, covering critical topics such as skill gaps in the industry, global standards, health and safety protocols, and the importance of international competitions such as WorldSkills.

Trainers also had the opportunity to visit the IEvo factory, where they observed real-world industrial processes. This hands-on experience allowed them to understand the practical aspects of the industry and gain insights that will aid in their teaching.
