Pidilite’s practical skilling initiative for modern joinery

Across India, furniture and woodworking units are experiencing a rapid shift—new substrates, faster turnaround times, and rising customer expectations now demand a workforce that can keep pace.

A thriving joinery ecosystem depends not only on robust materials but on the skill, precision, and technical confidence of the people who shape them.

Yet one challenge remains: the shortage of trained operators and workmen equipped with best practices and a strong understanding of value delivery.

Recognising this gap, Pidilite Industries has introduced its Shop Floor Module Campaign, a focused, factory-level initiative designed to upskill and reskill joinery operators and workmen.

The programme builds on the company’s long-standing relationship with the carpenter community, taking decades of knowledge-building efforts deeper into the factory environment where real-time craftsmanship and process discipline come together.

Delivered through short, high-impact workshops conducted by Pidilite’s regional technical and sales teams on the shop floor itself, the campaign covers three core pillars while keeping the essential points intact:

• Best practices: Correct application methods, substrate compatibility, and performance optimisation in modern woodworking setups.

• Process discipline: Reinforcing safe handling, equipment awareness, and consistent, error-free shop-floor behaviour.

• Adhesive solutions: Introducing workmen to new products and the appropriate use of adhesives for different substrates to ensure dependable results.

The intention is practical and transformative thereby empowering operators with hands-on knowledge that lifts productivity, reduces failures, and enhances output quality across factories.

Speaking about the initiative, H.S. Manikandan, Chief of Sales & Marketing at Pidilite Industries says, “As the joinery industry evolves, the skill readiness of factory operators becomes central to the value delivered on the ground. Our shop-floor skilling programme is designed to bridge that readiness gap in a practical, hands-on manner.”

By taking structured, accessible training directly to production floors, Pidilite’s Shop Floor Module marks a significant step toward developing a future-ready workforce for India’s woodworking and modular furniture sector.
