Decora, in collaboration with the Furniture and Fittings Skill Council (FFSC) and Imos, recently launched the Decora Skill Academy, which aims to close the skill gap in the modular furniture sector by offering specialised training in both modular furniture production and the Imos design software.
The academy provides a holistic training programme covering all aspects of modular furniture production, from raw material selection to assembly techniques and advanced design methodologies. Students receive both theoretical knowledge and practical experience to help them excel in the industry.
As the furniture industry embraces digitisation, proficiency in Imos software has become crucial. At the academy, students will master the latest version of this industry-leading software, gaining skills in 3D design, project planning and production integration.
Advanced factory
A standout feature of the Decora Skill Academy is its emphasis on real-world training. Students gain hands-on experience at Decora’s advanced factory in Reliance Met City, where they participate in the full production lifecycle.
This practical exposure ensures students are well-versed in industry standards, quality control, and the use of automated machinery.
Through its collaboration with FFSC, the academy seeks to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in India’s modular furniture sector. By blending classroom instruction with practical, on-the-job training, the academy aims to equip graduates with the skills necessary to meet the sector’s evolving needs.
Aligned with the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the academy plays a key role in the development of India’s furniture industry. By focusing on skill development, the academy is helping to create a new generation of professionals poised to drive innovation and growth in the sector.
