Since their launch in 2015, PerfectSense lacquered boards have been delighting Egger customers worldwide. Building on this success, the wood-based material specialist is now expanding its lacquer portfolio with the new PerfectSense Feelwood.
The matt, velvety-warm and textured surfaces open up new design possibilities in furniture and interiors.
Surfaces that convey naturalness are attributed a special value. Egger complements the on-going matt trend with textures that are synchronised to the decor image. The result is the product innovation, PerfectSense Feelwood lacquered boards.
“Due to the continuing success of our matt PerfectSense lacquered boards over the years, we have invested in a second production line at the Brilon (Germany) site,” says Hubert Höglauer, Head of Marketing and Product Management (Furniture and Interior Design) in the Egger Group.
“On the existing lacquer line, we produce PerfectSense Premium Matt and Premium Gloss with developed surface properties,” he adds.
Egger is the first wood-based material manufacturer to combine a matt lacquer surface with Feelwood textures that are synchronised to the respective decor pattern. Never before have optics and haptics been brought into harmony in such a way.
“Our new product meets the trend of matt, oiled real-wood surfaces, and shows naturalness never before achieved on a sustainable wood-based core board. You can see it, but you can feel it above all,” says Klaus Monhoff, Head of Decor and Design Management at Egger.
As already known from PerfectSense Premium Matt, the new lacquered board variant also impresses, thanks to its anti-fingerprint property. This is particularly advantageous with dark colours, as virtually no fingerprints can be seen.
The matt lacquer, with its resistant properties, makes the product innovation suitable for all vertical applications. PerfectSense Feelwood is particularly suitable for use in bathrooms and kitchens, where furniture and interior fittings have to withstand moisture and heat.
A jury from two internationally recognised awards was also enthusiastic about the innovative product. According to the expert jury, PerfectSense Feelwood received the Red Dot Award (Product Design) 2021.
Egger presents five new wood reproductions, as well as the trend colour black, with the new matt-textured surface. The six exclusive decor innovations are available from October 2020 to retail partners, architects and fabricators in the ‘Range for the Senses’ collection that complements the Egger Decorative Collection.
For distributors, and by extension architects and fabricators, PerfectSense Feelwood lacquered boards are available from stock in the dimensions 2,800x 2,070 mm and 19-mm thickness. ABS edges (23x1.0 mm), which are optimally matched to the surfaces in terms of decor and texture, complete the range.
When developing and selecting the new decors, it was important for Egger to choose woods that already contain very natural elements: For example, Cuneo Oak contains sapwood, Garrone Oak has a reflective nature, Brown Halifax Oak has small cracks, and Riffian Oak has a natural plank.
In combination with the low gloss level, these wood reproductions feature a better reflective nature and natural colour interplay. The matt PerfectSense lacquer finish gives the synchronised pore surfaces TM28 Feelwood Nature Matt and TM37 Feelwood Rift Matt their authentic real-wood look and anti-fingerprint properties.
The product innovation is based on a formaldehyde-reduced melamine-resin-coated Eurodekor E1E05 TSCA P2 CE board. The chipboard consists of 89% renewable resources and 70% recycled material or by-products from the sawmill industry.
You can find a range of Egger products in the Decora booth (J-116, Hall 9) at DelhiWood 2023.
