Coir research centre for Bengaluru

The Coir Board of India has developed products with ‘E0 carbon emission’ standards and sent samples to the US, its Chairman, Mr. C.P. Radhakrishnan, was quoted as saying recently.

The board had first developed coir plywood products with E1 carbon emission standards, which were approved by the European Union, Radhakrishnan said after inaugurating a two-day Coconut Festival.

The board is setting up a research centre in Bengaluru at a cost of Rs. 18 crore to assist manufacture of coir plywood with coir fibre, he said.

Lakshmi Machine Works and MGR Deemed University have joined hands with the Coir Board for developing machines for the industry.
