Century goes for Rs 650-crore expansion

As demand improves, Century Plyboards is looking at capital expenditure of Rs 650 crore over the next 2 years. The company will add a green-field plant, an MDF (medium-density fibreboard) unit in South India at an estimated cost of Rs 450 crore, which is expected to be operational by 2023.

The company is also ramping up capacities at its MDF plant at Hoshiarpur (Punjab), from 600 cubic metres per day to 1,000 cubic metres per day, at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore.

Commercial production will start in the next 12 months, reports BusinessLine. At present, the company’s plywood and laminate units are operating at over 90% capacities.
