AHEC to collaborate with Indian furniture designers

The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) has announced the launch of ‘Remake’, its first design collaboration with five Indian furniture designers. The collaboration aims to give a hands-on experience with American hardwood in India’s furniture manufacturing sector.

The project challenges the leading furniture designer-makers to each select three pieces from their existing furniture range and to remake them using American hardwoods. The Indian designers include Studio Wood, Bram Woodcrafting Studio, Kam Ce Kam, Esvee Atelier and Studio SFDW.

The designers have been asked to remake their pieces using American red oak, white oak, cherry, hard maple, tulipwood or hickory. AHEC is supplying all the lumber from a stock of American hardwood species held in India.
